Light Commercial Automation Case Study


A restaurant was confronting several problems due to multiple separate low voltage systems that did not work together and were placed in different locations throughout the restaurant. The high turnover of the staff and the confusing system setup was making it difficult to efficiently and effectively train employees on how to operate these systems (HVAC, lighting, alarm, audio, and video screens). 


Andora’s solution was to move all of the systems to one rack in a central location. Each system was then integrated with a Control4 automation solution. The systems were set up to be controlled from an easy-to-operate touchscreen. System operation was streamlined and utilized an intuitive user interface.  


The systems were overhauled within one week during only the slow midday hours. The systems were orderly racked and the touchscreens installed in various accessible areas of the restaurant. The training process was simplified to a ten minute tutorial. The Control4 system made it possible for the lighting, HVAC, and music to activate at predetermined settings whenever the first employee enters the restaurant.


A side benefit to this system reorganization is that the lighting switch banks that detracted from the look of the restaurant could be moved out of sight or removed entirely.
